The St. John's Red Storm roster continues to evolve this offseason, with European talents Lefteris Liotopoulos and Imran Suljanovic entering the transfer portal. Their departures create new opportunities and open scholarships as head coach Rick Pitino reshapes his squad for future Big East battles.

Liotopoulos, a 6-foot-5 guard from Greece affectionately called "Lefty," provided a spark off the bench during his two seasons. While his role was limited, he etched his name in Red Storm lore with a career-high 17-point outburst, hitting five threes in a pivotal road win over Creighton last January. His readiness to shoot from deep offered a valuable change-of-pace option for the Johnnies.

For Suljanovic, his time in Queens was unfortunately defined by injury. The Austrian forward, who committed last spring, suffered a dislocated kneecap in preseason practice, ending his year before it began. By utilizing a medical redshirt, he retains four full years of eligibility and will look to make his collegiate debut elsewhere.

With these moves, St. John's now has seven returning scholarship players locked in for the 2026-27 campaign. The coaching staff is actively working to bolster the lineup, hosting key transfer prospects this very week, including Abdi Bashir (Kansas State), Mouhamed Dioubate (Kentucky), and DeSean Goode (Robert Morris). The recruitment of Toledo guard Leroy Blyden Jr. is also in motion, signaling an aggressive approach to building a competitive roster.
