KILGORE, Texas (KETK) — In a rematch of the top two teams in 4A Region 2 District 16, the Spring Hill Panthers baseball team took down the Kilgore Bulldogs 3-1 in nine innings Friday night at Driller Park in Kilgore.

Spring Hill scored a run in the top of the first to go up 1-0, before the much-anticipated district rematch turned into a pitchers’ duel between Spring Hill’s Blake Bonner and Kilgore’s Cason Edney.

Edney tied the game at one with his RBI single in the bottom of the sixth which scored Devin Tinney from third.

The game went to extras tied at one before Spring Hill scored two runs in the top of the ninth and held on to beat Kilgore 3-1 in nine innings.

Spring Hill avenged a 2-1 loss to the Bulldogs earlier this week and reclaimed the top spot in the district standings with Friday night’s extra-innings victory.
