Spanish River senior Preston Sangely has been making waves on the track this season, and for good reason. The 6-foot-1 runner has grown nearly four inches since last school year, but his growth extends far beyond height. With newfound maturity, dedication, and Olympian aspirations, Sangely is setting his sights on history at the state championship meet in Jacksonville on Saturday, April 5.

Sangely is aiming for an unprecedented quadruple: winning four 4A state titles in the 800 meters, 1600 meters, 3200 meters, and anchoring the 4x800 relay. If he pulls it off, he'll cement his legacy as Palm Beach County's greatest track runner—a title some argue he already holds. "My goal is to win all four events," Sangely says with quiet confidence.

Lean and nearly free of body fat, Sangely measures his words carefully. Perhaps it's because French is his first language (he moved from France at age 6 and is now fluent in English), or maybe he's simply guarding the secrets behind his success. Either way, his focus is unwavering as he prepares for a day that could rewrite local sports history.
