Spanish River's Preston Sangely aims for four state track titles, potentially becoming Palm Beach County's greatest runner.

Spanish River senior Preston Sangely isn't just growing taller—he's growing into a legend. Since last school year, the 6-foot-1 runner has added nearly four inches to his frame, but it's his maturity, dedication, and Olympic-sized ambitions that truly set him apart.

This Saturday, April 5, at the state championship meet in Jacksonville, Sangely is chasing history. He'll compete in four 4A events: the 800 meters, 1600 meters, 3200 meters, and the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay. If he sweeps all four titles, he'll cement his place as the greatest track runner Palm Beach County has ever seen—and some say he's already there.

"My goal is to win all four events," Sangely says, measuring his words with the same precision he brings to the track. Now leaner and carrying almost no body fat, the senior credits his growth—both physical and mental—for his rise. French is his first language, though he's fluent in English, having moved from France at age 6. He's careful not to reveal too much about his training secrets, preferring to let his performances do the talking.

With Olympian dreams on the horizon, Sangely is focused on the present. A quadruple state title would not only make local history but also set the stage for an even brighter future. For now, all eyes are on Jacksonville, where one runner aims to do what no one in the county has done before.
