Spanish journalist Tomas Roncero has slammed Kylian Mbappe for what he called an insensitive social media post during Real Madrid's painful El Clasico defeat to Barcelona on Sunday night.

Even though the French superstar was sidelined with a late injury and not part of the squad, he still managed to become a major talking point of the evening—and not for the right reasons.

While Real Madrid struggled at Spotify Camp Nou and Barcelona closed in on the La Liga title with a commanding 2-0 lead, Mbappe took to social media to show support for his teammates. He posted a picture of the match on television with the simple caption: "Hala Madrid."

It was a gesture meant to rally the troops, but the timing couldn't have been worse. Frustrated Real Madrid supporters, already seething over the team's poor performance and the loss of the league title to their arch-rivals, quickly flooded the post with criticism.

Leading the backlash was well-known Spanish journalist Tomas Roncero, who didn't hold back. "Kylian is having a laugh at all of us," he wrote on his official X account, summing up the sentiment of many fans who felt the post was tone-deaf.

According to reports from Spain, Mbappe pulled out of Saturday's final training session just minutes before it ended due to an injury, which has since sparked growing speculation around the club. This meant he avoided traveling to Barcelona for what turned out to be one of the most difficult nights of the season for Real Madrid, as their biggest rivals celebrated another La Liga title in front of their own fans.

While his teammates had to witness Barcelona's jubilant celebrations at Camp Nou, Mbappe watched from afar. But his social media activity during the game ensured that attention once again shifted toward the French star, whose recent actions continue to divide opinion among sections of the Real Madrid fanbase.

It's a reminder that in the world of football, even the best intentions can backfire when the stakes are this high—and when your team is on the wrong end of a title-deciding Clasico.
