Here's a look at the opening week of action for Whaling City Youth Baseball for the 2026 season.

The crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd are back in SouthCoast as the Whaling City Youth Baseball League officially opened its 2026 season with a festive Opening Day ceremony and a full slate of games on Sunday, May 3, at Brooklawn Park. From no-hitters to walk-off home runs, the first week of action delivered all the drama and excitement that makes youth baseball the heart of spring.

In a performance that set the tone for the season, Ben Bernardo kicked off his final year in the league by hurling a no-hitter, leading Amaral's Linguica to a 3-1 victory over Apex. Not content with just dominating on the mound, Bernardo also went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored—a true two-way statement.

Over in the Wonder Bowl vs. NB Fire matchup, the bats were on fire. Jayce Nova powered Wonder Bowl to a commanding 16-4 win, going 3-for-3 and launching a home run. Jheyden Rodrigues also tallied three hits, while Nyzaiah Caban chipped in with two. Amari Azor, Colin Keagan, Anthony Torres, Leo Kelly, and Kheyden Rodrigues each added a base hit to round out the offensive explosion.

Tony's Auto rode a strong pitching performance to a 9-3 win over Table 8. Derek Dallaire and Bobby Seamans combined on the mound, allowing just three runs on three hits while striking out 15 batters. At the plate, Ayla Soares led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 day, while Dallaire, Seamans, Wesley Rodrigues, and Maverick Gaskins each contributed a hit. Isaac DaSilva led Table 8 with two hits, and Logan Cutler added one.

Daves put together a balanced attack in a 12-0 shutout of Palace Pizza, with Ben Pimental, Christian Vaz, and Javriel Francis each collecting two hits. Conor Santos and Miguel Selvina added one hit apiece. For Palace Pizza, Kameron Uzzell and Max Arunsi both recorded hits in the tough loss.

In the closest contest of the week, Kitchens & Baths edged ACG 4-3 in a pitcher's duel. ACG jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a Lincoln Oliveira single, but K&B answered with three runs in the bottom half after two walks and an RBI single from Jameson Silva. ACG's Landon Amaral and Ethan Gonsalves combined to strike out 12 batters and scatter six hits, but K&B's James Reardon was the story. He tossed a complete game, allowing no earned runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts, and broke the tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Finally, Tremblay's Bus took down Lebeaus 10-3 behind a strong start from Nate Martinez. Martinez pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win, while Jayce Goncalves and Liam Cormier provided relief. At the plate, Martinez went 3-for-3, and Jayden Carvalho added two hits to keep the offense rolling.

With Opening Week in the books, the 2026 season is off and running—and if this week is any indication, fans are in for a memorable summer of baseball at Brooklawn Park.
