Madison Scheinberg, an assistant coach for the Notre Dame Academy varsity hockey team in Hingham, has earned a prestigious nod from the NHL. She was recently recognized by the NHL Coaches Association's Female Coaches Program, which highlights outstanding women shaping the game at the youth level.

Scheinberg's nomination places her among an elite group of hockey mentors, including pioneers like Jessica Campbell of the Seattle Kraken. This recognition underscores the growing impact of female leadership in a sport that continues to evolve at every level.

Her coaching impact is clear on the ice. This past season, Scheinberg helped guide the NDA Cougars to a formidable 14-2-3 record, securing the top spot in the MIAA power rankings and a deep run to the Division 1 Final Four. It was a season defined by a powerful team culture built on trust and high performance.

"They reflected a message lived out by their coaches at each practice and in each game," said NDA president Annemarie Lynch Kenneally, praising the balance of positivity and competitive drive Scheinberg helped foster.

Beyond the rink, Scheinberg serves as the school's health and wellness coordinator, working with students from grades 6 through 12. Her mission extends beyond wins and losses, focusing on building resilient, confident young women. "I want to inspire the next generation of female leaders," Scheinberg said, emphasizing a culture where girls are "fully supported and empowered."

Her own athletic and academic journey laid the foundation for this work. A dual-sport NCAA athlete in hockey and golf at Suffolk University, she later earned a master's degree in sport psychology—a perfect blend of experience that she now uses to mentor the next wave of talent on the South Shore and beyond.
