The air is heating up on South Dakota tracks as the 2026 season hits its stride, and athletes across all classes are posting times that promise thrilling finishes at the state meet. Here's the latest top-10 leaderboard, compiled from the athletic.net database through May 9 meets.

In the 100 meters, Sioux Falls Lincoln senior Javon Haukaas continues to lead the pack with a blistering 10.55, set back on April 14. But keep an eye on Tea Area sophomore Beckett Martens, who clocked 10.67 on May 7 to claim the second spot, showing he's closing the gap. Pierre junior Karson Walti holds third at 10.73, while Sioux Falls Jefferson senior Kaeden Mattheis sits fourth at 10.75. The youth movement is strong too, with Rapid City Central freshman Fox Pendegraft debuting at sixth with a 10.81—a name to watch in years to come.

The 200 meters is shaping up as a showdown among Sioux Falls schools. Haukaas again leads, this time with a 21.49 from May 1, followed closely by teammate Zyan Conrad at 21.81. Sioux Falls Jefferson's Zyron Hills is right there in third at 21.82, making the 200 a must-watch event at the state meet. Mattheis and Nolan Long round out the top ten with matching 22.12 efforts.

In the 400 meters, Sioux Falls Lincoln is absolutely dominant, sweeping the top four spots. Conrad leads at 47.57, just ahead of Evan Abild's 47.71—both marks from April 21. Isaac Herrboldt adds depth at 49.16, while O'Gorman senior Garrison Schoenwald breaks the Lincoln stranglehold at sixth with a 49.90 from May 8. Aberdeen Central's Kyson Fayant and Jefferson's Hills also crack the top ten, proving the 400 is fertile ground for state title contenders.
