The Charlotte Hornets are exploring new ways to bring their games to fans, and a potential partnership with streaming platform Victory+ is reportedly on the table. According to sources speaking with Sports Business Journal, the Hornets are among several NBA teams considering a deal with Victory+, signaling a shift in how teams are approaching local game broadcasts in an evolving media landscape.
This move comes amid a broader shake-up in sports broadcasting. Just last month, Fubo made a surprise pitch to all 13 NBA teams that had previously moved away from traditional regional sports networks (RSNs). Other players in the mix include DAZN, Gray TV, and Nexstar, all of which have been reported as potential local options for teams looking to carve out new distribution paths.
The trend toward innovation is already taking shape elsewhere. The Detroit Pistons' former RSN was also home to the Tigers and Red Wings, but those teams—both owned by the Ilitch family—launched Detroit SportsNet in collaboration with MLB Media. This first-of-its-kind hybrid model sees MLB producing and distributing Tigers games this season, while also providing broadcast support for the Red Wings' upcoming 2026-27 season. For the Hornets and other franchises, these developments highlight a league-wide push to meet fans where they are, whether through streaming or alternative broadcast partnerships.
