The fourth former Oklahoma Sooners player is off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After defensive lineman R Mason Thomas (Kansas City Chiefs), offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu (Houston Texans), and defensive lineman Gracen Halton (San Francisco 49ers) were the first trio of OU players picked, it wasn't long before another player joined them.
The Atlanta Falcons drafted linebacker Kendal Daniels in the fourth round (134th overall) on Saturday. Daniels spent one year with the Sooners, transferring in after four seasons playing for Oklahoma State. Despite limited time in Norman, Daniels played a key role on a suffocating defense.
In 2025, Daniels tallied 53 total tackles and a fumble recovery as the starter at the cheetah position (which combines qualities of a linebacker, safety, and nickelback) for the Sooners. His size, ability to play the run and pass, physicality, speed, and versatility made him the ultimate chess piece in head coach Brent Venables' defense, and he was an underrated part of that unit's success.
Daniels joins a Falcons team that is entering a new era in 2026, and his ability to do a lot of things really well is going to serve him well at the next level. He was drafted much earlier than expected, and clearly Atlanta liked what they saw on tape from the former Sooner.
After having two players picked in the fourth round last year (Danny Stutsman and Billy Bowman Jr.), Oklahoma has had three players selected in the same round so far this year, in Nwaiwu, Halton, and now Daniels.
