ORCHARD PARK – This weekend, the Buffalo Bills' rookie camp holds a special story that feels straight out of a sports movie. Bruno Fina, an offensive lineman with a famous last name, is trying to carve his own path while wearing the same uniform his father, John Fina, proudly wore for a decade.

John Fina was a first-round draft pick for the Bills in 1992, selected 27th overall by legendary general manager Bill Polian. He anchored the offensive line during Buffalo's historic run of four consecutive Super Bowl appearances. Now, 32 years later, his son Bruno is stepping onto the same practice field, hoping to follow in those sizable footsteps.

But the path for Bruno is far different from his father's. John was a guaranteed roster spot when he arrived for his first workout. Bruno, born in 2002—the same year his father played his final NFL game—is here as an unsigned undrafted free agent on a tryout. He has just two days to prove he belongs. The Bills have limited roster space, with 14 offensive linemen already under contract, including two recent draft picks.

Despite the long odds, Bruno is soaking in every moment. "It's kind of like when I got my first offer out of high school—disbelief, gratitude, and excitement for the opportunity," he said. "I didn't even know I was going to have a locker. I walked in and my name was on one. Holding that helmet with the blue and red stripe? It's surreal. I feel very, very lucky to be here."

To earn a spot beyond rookie camp, Bruno needs to impress new offensive line coach Pat Meyer and assistant Austin Gund, and ultimately head coach Joe Brady and GM Brandon Beane. During Friday's drills, he showed promise—executing a perfect rep where he engaged a defender then peeled off to block a second man. Coach Gund called it "great."

Father-son duos playing for the same NFL team are rare, making Bruno's journey especially compelling. Whether he makes the roster or not, this weekend is a testament to hard work, legacy, and the enduring love of the game. For fans of Bills history and football dreams, Bruno Fina's story is one to watch.
