The Australian Rules football community is in mourning following the tragic death of Jaryd Dawson, the older brother of Adelaide Crows captain Jordan Dawson. After a 24-hour search in South Australia, Jaryd's body was found near a lookout in the coastal town of Robe, where his car had been located.

Jaryd, 35, was last seen on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 14. His wife, Jessica, shared a heartfelt plea on social media, confirming he had been missing since approximately 2:30 p.m. local time. The news sent shockwaves through the tight-knit football world, where the Dawson family is well-known and respected.

Beyond being the sibling of an AFL star, Jaryd was a devoted family man, having married Jessica in 2024 and welcoming a baby boy in late 2025. He was also a co-founder of a boutique home building company and a former player for the local Robe Roosters, where he and Jordan first shared their passion for the game on the field together.

In the wake of the discovery, the Adelaide Crows supported their captain, with Jordan missing a team training session for personal reasons. South Australia Police have stated the death is not considered suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner. The football community and the Dawson family have requested privacy during this profoundly difficult time.
