Midtjylland midfielder Alamara Djabi is in stable condition after he was seriously injured in a stabling over the weekend, the Danish club has said.

The incident took place in Herning, the city in which Midtjylland is located.

Midtjylland said the 19-year-old from Guinea-Bissau was "in danger of dying" and underwent two emergency surgeries before his condition stabilized.

"There was a serious stabbing in Herning over the weekend, where 19-year-old Alamara Djabi from FC Midtjylland was seriously injured," the club said in a statement.

"Alamara Djabi was subsequently in danger of dying and underwent emergency surgery. He has since undergone another surgery, and after professional efforts from the called rescue personnel and later hospital doctors, his condition is now stable.

"He has woken up from an induced coma and is doing well under the circumstances."

Djabi was signed from Benfica's academy in 2023 and has made two senior appearances for Midtjylland. He has also featured for the club's youth squads and on loan with Portuguese side C.D. Mafra.

Midtjylland is currently second in the Danish Superliga. The club reached the last 16 of this season's Europa League, losing on penalties to Nottingham Forest last month.
