SEG and Intermountain Health plan to build a sports medicine center next to the Utah Mammoth and Utah Jazz practice facilities in Sandy.

Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) is transforming Sandy into a premier sports destination, and the latest addition to their growing campus is a game-changer for athletes of all levels.

Fresh off the opening of the Utah Mammoth Ice Center last year at the Shops at South Town, and with the Utah Jazz practice facility slated for a 2027 debut, SEG and Intermountain Health have announced plans for a cutting-edge sports medicine center set to open in 2028. This isn't just for the pros—youth competitors and weekend warriors will also benefit from top-tier care.

At a press conference Wednesday, SEG chairman and CEO Ryan Smith unveiled the project, calling the sports campus "unlike anything in the NBA and NHL." The center will be the only sports and health campus in both leagues where two teams share a single ownership group and healthcare provider, creating a seamless ecosystem for athlete care.

Starting July 1, Intermountain Health will become the official healthcare provider for the Jazz and Mammoth, with Select Health as the exclusive health insurance partner. "Having one ownership group and one healthcare provider across both teams allows us to innovate, share best practices, and invest in proactive care for our teams and the community," Smith said.

The 60,000-square-foot Intermountain Health Sports Performance Center will offer a full suite of services, including primary care, sports medicine, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, sports performance science, advanced diagnostics, and even an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center. It's designed to give the Jazz and Mammoth a "unique competitive advantage" by integrating care directly with their practice facilities.

"Partnering with Intermountain Health on this campus is another step toward making Utah a destination market for professional athletes while serving the broader community," Smith added. For fans and athletes alike, this is a major win for Utah's sports scene.
