The Buffalo Bills' receiving corps is heating up, and not everyone is going to come out on top. Keon Coleman, the team's promising but unproven wideout, entered the offseason with his future already under a microscope. After the NFL Draft, that scrutiny has only intensified.
Sure, offensive coordinator Joe Brady and general manager Brandon Beane have said all the right things publicly about Coleman. But behind the scenes, the clock is ticking. The Bills' decision to draft receiver Skyler Bell in the fourth round has sparked plenty of praise, with many analysts believing he could make an immediate impact.
Sports Illustrated's Daniel Flick is the latest to weigh in, and his prediction doesn't bode well for Coleman. Flick named Bell as Buffalo's potential top rookie for 2026. "The Bills have a solid nucleus of talent in their receiving corps, but Bell is a baller," Flick wrote. "Bell can play inside and outside, and he's made significant strides with his hands—once a weakness, he morphed into a reliable target for the Huskies. He's tough and can create separation, both of which are huge assets."
If Bell produces in Year 1 and outshines Coleman in the process, it could be the final nail in the coffin for the third-year receiver. A rookie outperforming a player with two years of experience is never a good look. Yes, we might be getting ahead of ourselves, but Coleman doesn't have much room for error anymore.
He needs to start delivering consistently—both on and off the field. If Bell steps in and immediately becomes a productive target, the coaching staff will likely look his way more often than Coleman's. And if that happens, the writing will be on the wall for Coleman's future in Buffalo.
