The University of Georgia's gymnastics program just landed a coaching dream team that reads like an Olympic gold rush. Laurent Landi and Cécile Canqueteau-Landi—the powerhouse duo behind Simone Biles' historic 2024 Paris run—are reuniting in Athens for the 2027 NCAA season.

Laurent Landi will join UGA as Associate Head Coach, working alongside his wife, Cécile, who took the helm as head coach earlier this year. "The opportunity to work with Cecile again is something I'm truly excited about," Landi said. "I look forward to helping push UGA to even greater heights."

This isn't just any coaching hire. Both Landis are former French national team members, with Cécile competing at the 1996 Olympics. Since moving to the U.S. in 2004, they've shaped some of the biggest names in gymnastics. At the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Texas—the same gym that produced Olympians Nastia Liukin and Carly Patterson—they coached 2016 Olympic medalist Madison Kocian and world champion Alyssa Baumann.

Then came their most famous protégé. In 2017, the Landis moved to Simone Biles' home gym, the World Champions Centre, where they guided her to six Olympic medals and 16 world championship medals over the next seven years. That partnership culminated in Paris 2024, where Biles added three more golds to her legendary résumé.

Now, the GymDogs are getting that championship pedigree. With the Landis reunited and leading from the same mat, Georgia's historic program—already a six-time NCAA champion—looks poised to climb back to the top. For fans who've watched them build champions from the grassroots up, this feels like the start of something golden.
