Shubman Gill is at it again. The Gujarat Titans captain took another playful jab at Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings (PBKS) after his team's thrilling win in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
PBKS posted 163 for 9, and their bowlers pushed the match to the final over. But Washington Sundar sealed the deal with a six, handing GT a nail-biting victory. After the game, Gill shared a photo on social media featuring Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, striking a "thigh-five" pose. The caption read: "Bas jeetna hai. Aava de."
Here's the kicker: "Bas Jeetna Hai" is actually PBKS's official campaign slogan for this IPL season. Gill's post was a cheeky nod to the opposition's own branding.
This isn't the first time Gill has used social media to add some spice. Earlier this season, after GT beat Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, he posted a picture holding a yellow whistle—a direct reference to CSK's iconic "Whistle Podu" chant. The caption simply said "Nandri Chennai" (Tamil for "Thank you, Chennai").
Then, after a win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gill shared an image with Virat Kohli, captioned "Play Hold @jaseholder98, Bold performance by team tonight." Many fans saw it as a clever twist on RCB's "Play Bold" motto.
Back to Sunday's match: Mohammed Siraj struck early for GT, taking two wickets in the first over—dismissing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. Kagiso Rabada then removed Prabhsimran Singh in the sixth over. PBKS found some momentum through a 79-run partnership between Suryansh Shedge (57 off 29 balls) and Marcus Stoinis (40 off 31 balls), but they could only reach 163 for 9.
In response, GT lost early wickets, but Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a steady 57 off 41 balls. Washington Sundar's unbeaten 40 off 23 balls, capped by that final-over six, guided GT home.
The result moves GT to sixth place with 12 points, while PBKS remain top of the table with 13 points. With Gill's playful posts adding extra drama, this IPL season is shaping up to be as entertaining off the field as it is on it.
