Sheek Pearson is entering the NCAA transfer portal before ever playing for the Marquette men's basketball team.
MU announced on April 21 that the 6-foot-11 big man will leave after redshirting his first season in college.
Pearson could be seen in team workouts posted by the school in recent weeks. But MU also added big man Sananda Fru in the portal, and Fru will likely take a big chunk of the playing time this season.
Pearson was still thought to be the MU center of the future. He skipped his senior season at John Burroughs High School in St. Louis to reclassify and join MU early. Pearson's length and athleticism profiles him as a lob-catcher and shot-blocker.
The Golden Eagles still have 6-foot-9 Caedin Hamilton and 7-foot-1 Josh Clark on the roster as backup big men, but they now have two scholarship slots available.
