Shaquille O'Neal's youngest daughter is leaving the Florida women's basketball team for another SEC rival.

Me'Arah O'Neal announced her commitment to Kentucky on Monday, April 27 via social media after electing to enter the transfer portal earlier this month. She averaged 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game as a sophomore with the Gators, who fired coach Kelly Rae Finley after the program missed the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.

O'Neal was a McDonald's all-American as a recruit and her father, the 15-time NBA All-Star, recently declared her to be "the best athlete in the family … She makes me jealous. I wish I could shoot like that."

OFFSEASON: Winners, losers of women’s college basketball transfer portal so far

There are three other O'Neal children to have played college basketball. Shareef played men's basketball at UCLA and LSU, Amirah played women's basketball at LSU and Texas Southern. Another brother, Shaqir, averaged 5.3 points this past season at Sacramento State, where Shaquille O'Neal currently serves as the men's basketball general manager for coach Mike Bibby.

Kentucky women's basketball made it to the Sweet 16 under coach Kenny Brooks in 2026 and will return all-SEC first team selection Clara Strack to the roster next season. The program is also expected to add UConn transfer Ayanna Patterson and welcome in a recruiting class featuring three McDonald's all-Americans in Maddyn Greenway, Savvy Swords and Emily McDonald.
