Shakira is back to soundtrack the world's biggest sporting event. The Colombian pop icon has officially unveiled her new song, "Dai Dai," as the anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada this summer.
The 49-year-old superstar, known for global hits like "Whenever, Wherever" and "Hips Don't Lie," gave fans a sneak peek of the track on Thursday. She posted a one-minute teaser video on Instagram, filmed at Brazil's iconic Maracanã stadium. The full song, which also features Nigerian music star Burna Boy, drops on May 14.
This marks Shakira's second official World Cup anthem, following her 2010 smash "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," which became one of the best-selling World Cup songs of all time. She also contributed "La La La (Brazil 2014)" as the second theme for the 2014 tournament and performed it at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. Her history with the event goes even further back—she sang "Hips Don't Lie" at the 2006 closing ceremony in Germany.
Shakira, who has two sons with former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Piqué, has deep personal ties to the sport. Now, with her home country Colombia set to compete in the expanded 48-team tournament running from June 11 to July 19, the stage is set for another unforgettable summer of football and music.
