The numbers seem to back up their frustration. According to statistics published by AS, Real Madrid have been the team most negatively impacted by VAR reviews in La Liga this season. Out of 14 VAR interventions involving Los Blancos, a whopping 11 went against them, with only three in their favor. With just three matchdays remaining, that's a tough pill to swallow for any club, let alone one with Madrid's trophy ambitions.
The dossier reportedly highlights several specific matches as prime examples of controversial officiating. One of the earliest flashpoints came on Matchday 12, during a frustrating 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano. Madrid felt they were denied three clear penalties, with appeals from Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, and Kylian Mbappé all waved away.
Then came the clash with Girona on Matchday 14, which left the club fuming. Madrid questioned the build-up to Girona's opening goal, alleging a foul on Mbappé was overlooked. Later, a late penalty shout for Rodrygo inside the box was also ignored, adding to the sense of injustice.
Matchday 15 brought more controversy, this time against Celta Vigo. Madrid believed Borja Iglesias should have been sent off for an elbow on Bellingham. Additional complaints centered on more penalty appeals and a series of disallowed goals that left the bench in disbelief.
