Roma took a giant step toward the Serie A title with a tense 1-0 victory over reigning champions Juventus on match day 19. The win keeps the league leaders six points clear of second-placed Inter with just three games remaining in the 2025/26 season.

At the other end of the table, Genoa slipped closer to relegation after a 2-1 home defeat to Inter. Here’s how all the action unfolded on a pivotal weekend in Italian football.

Roma Edge Past Juventus in Title Showdown

Roma edged out Juventus in a tightly contested battle between two giants of Italian football. The decisive moment came in the 59th minute when Giulia Dragoni scored what could be the most important goal of the season. Collecting a pass from Evelyne Viens, Dragoni lifted the ball over goalkeeper Larissa Rusek before prodding it across the line. The goal came shortly after Juventus had a strike ruled out for a foul. Roma held firm defensively to claim their 14th league win of the campaign, putting them on the brink of the title.

Inter Fight Back to Secure Second Place

Inter may be falling short in the title race, but they strengthened their hold on second spot with a hard-fought 2-1 win over bottom side Genoa. The Nerazzurre fell behind early when Birta Georgsdóttir headed in from a near-post corner in the 15th minute. Trailing at halftime, Inter turned the match around with two goals from corners of their own. Marija Milinković hooked the ball home from Lina Magull’s out-swinging delivery, before the defender was left unmarked to fire home the rebound after Camilla Forcinella made a fine reaction save from Elisa Polli’s header.

Lazio’s Top Three Hopes Take a Hit

Lazio’s aspirations of finishing in the top three suffered a major blow in Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Sassuolo. Lana Clelland opened the scoring with a calm early penalty, and Naomi Eto doubled the lead just before halftime. Kassandra Missipo then rounded off the scoring in the second half. To make matters worse, Lazio’s Martina Piemonte was sent off for sarcastically clapping at the referee after receiving an initial yellow card. While the red card compounded Lazio’s miserable afternoon, Sassuolo celebrated a win that moved them seven points clear of the relegation zone.
