SEC rival Georgia is making a serious push to flip four-star Oklahoma quarterback commit Jamison Roberts, and the Sooners are feeling the heat.

Roberts, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound signal-caller from Saraland High School in Mobile, Alabama, pledged to Oklahoma on March 7th and is currently the crown jewel of OU's 2027 recruiting class. But that commitment is being tested. According to DawgsHQ's Rusty Mansell, Georgia offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo visited Roberts on Monday, signaling the Bulldogs' intent to flip the passer from Norman to Athens.

Roberts has drawn heavy interest from multiple SEC programs throughout his recruitment, including Georgia's entire coaching staff. Oklahoma offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and quarterbacks coach John Kuceyeski are now in a battle to keep their preferred quarterback locked in for early December signing. The Sooners can ill afford another defection—they've already lost two 2027 commits: defensive lineman Zane Rowe flipped to Oregon, and running back Jaxsen Stokes flipped to Cal.

Oklahoma has Roberts scheduled for an official visit on June 12th, but Georgia could offer an earlier path to playing time. At OU, Roberts would need to wait behind Bowe Bentley, the heir apparent to senior John Mateer. In Athens, however, he could compete as early as his true freshman season to replace senior Gunner Stockton, alongside 2026 commit Bryson Beaver. The Bulldogs are also pursuing Massachusetts passer Peter Bourque and hope to join Roberts' official visit list—something Oklahoma is desperate to prevent.

The Sooners went all-in on Roberts months before his commitment, and losing him would be a major blow to their already thinning 2027 class. For now, the battle for this Alabama gunslinger is just heating up.
