The Seattle Mariners are getting a major boost as catcher Cal Raleigh returns to the lineup after a three-game absence. The 2025 All-Star and Home Run Derby champion has been sidelined with right side soreness, but he's ready to make his presence felt against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.

Raleigh will serve as the designated hitter and bat second in the order when first pitch rolls around at 6:40 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Park. It's a welcome sight for a Mariners squad that pulled off an impressive 5-4 comeback victory on Monday without him—scoring five unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Manager Dan Wilson gave an encouraging update before Tuesday's game, confirming that Raleigh passed all team testing and protocols. "He feels nothing in his side and is good to go," Wilson said, adding that the switch-hitter will be able to use both sides of the plate effectively.

While Raleigh is back in the lineup, the team is taking a cautious approach regarding his return to catching duties. "We're looking at it pretty much at-bat to at-bat at this point," Wilson explained. "Just continue to watch it and we'll make decisions as the assessments come in. He's full-go and able to do it. Obviously if something comes back up, we'll have to take some kind of action."

Mitch Garver, who has filled in behind the plate for two of the last three games, will start at catcher on Tuesday. It's a solid backup plan for a team that clearly values Raleigh's contributions—both at the plate and behind it.

Through 33 games this season, Raleigh has slashed .186/.272/.380 with a .652 OPS, racking up four doubles, a team-leading seven home runs, and 18 RBIs. His power is undeniable, and having that bat back in the middle of the order changes the entire dynamic of Seattle's lineup.

For Mariners fans, seeing Raleigh back in action is a reminder of just how crucial he is to this team's success. Whether he's launching home runs or anchoring the defense, his presence on the field is something every fan loves to see—and something every opponent dreads.
