In a move that marks the end of a groundbreaking chapter in NHL history, Jessica Campbell is parting ways with the Seattle Kraken after making waves as the league's first female on-bench assistant coach.

General Manager Jason Botterill confirmed that Campbell's contract is expiring, and she's eager to explore new opportunities across the league. "We support her in this process," Botterill said in a statement. "Jessica has been an important member of our coaching staff for the past four years, demonstrating deep knowledge and a unique ability to connect with and develop players. We respect her decision and believe strongly in her as a coach in this league."

Campbell's journey to the NHL bench was nothing short of historic. She was promoted to the Kraken in 2024 from the American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds, where she worked alongside Dan Bylsma. When Bylsma was dismissed a year ago, Campbell was retained and worked under new head coach Lane Lambert.

While the Kraken have missed the playoffs for the past two seasons, Campbell's impact was felt most during her time in the AHL. Under her guidance, the Firebirds reached back-to-back Calder Cup Finals, showcasing her ability to develop talent and build winning cultures. As she looks to write her next chapter, the hockey world will be watching closely to see where this trailblazer lands next.
