The Seattle Seahawks, fresh off their Super Bowl victory, have added some intriguing depth to their receiving corps. On Thursday, the reigning champions announced the signing of wide receiver Rashad Rochelle—a player who just last weekend was trying out for the Carolina Panthers at their 2026 rookie minicamp.
Rochelle, 23, was one of 11 tryout participants at Carolina's camp, but it was the Seahawks who saw enough potential to bring him aboard. The Springfield, Illinois native brings a versatile skill set that could prove valuable on special teams and in the passing game.
His collegiate journey is a tale of two careers. At Rutgers (2022-2023), Rochelle was primarily a rusher and return specialist, logging 27 carries and nine returns with just one reception. But after transferring to Indiana State for the 2024-2025 seasons, he transformed into a dynamic wideout. Over those two years with the Sycamores, Rochelle hauled in 97 catches for 1,270 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also showcased his return prowess, averaging 25.0 yards on 43 kick returns and 10.5 yards on 21 punt returns.
At 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, Rochelle's blend of speed and versatility could make him a sneaky addition to Seattle's roster as they look to reload for another title defense.
