Who's leading the PGA Tour FedEx Cup points standings entering the Truist Championship?

Scottie Scheffler is making a habit of finishing second—and it's paying off big time. With three straight runner-up finishes on the PGA Tour, including a close call to Cameron Young at the Cadillac Championship, Scheffler has reclaimed the top spot in the FedEx Cup points standings. It's a position he knows well, having led the list after his second-place finish to Matt Fitzpatrick at the RBC Championship earlier this season.

Scheffler briefly lost the lead when Fitzpatrick and his brother Alex won the Zurich Classic, but Fitzpatrick skipped the event at Doral, opening the door for Scheffler to slide back into first. The margin is razor-thin, though—Scheffler leads Fitzpatrick by just 34 points and Young by 60. With the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow on the horizon, Scheffler has decided to take a week off to rest up before defending his PGA Championship title at Aronimink near Philadelphia. That's a bold move, especially since he won the 2025 edition of this very event at Quail Hollow by a commanding five shots over Harris English.

This week, only Fitzpatrick and Young have a realistic shot at overtaking Scheffler in the standings. The winner of the Truist Championship earns 700 points, and No. 4 Collin Morikawa sits 704 points behind—meaning he'd need a win and some help to make a move. Among the top 30 on the points list, only Scheffler and No. 18 Russell Henley are sitting this one out.

The Cadillac Championship also sparked some major moves further down the standings. Lucas Glover jumped 38 spots from 147th to 109th after a tie for 14th, while Ben Griffin surged 32 spots from 65th to 33rd thanks to a tie for third. Alex Noren climbed 18 spots to 49th, Alex Smalley rose 14 spots to 35th, Adam Scott moved up 12 spots to 16th, and Denny McCarthy gained 12 spots to sit at 94th.

As the FedEx Cup race heats up, all eyes are on Scheffler—can he turn those second-place finishes into a win when it matters most? The PGA Championship might just be the perfect stage for that comeback.
