Chris Harris is coming home. The Scotland centre has agreed to rejoin the Newcastle Red Bulls next season, marking a full-circle return to the club where his professional journey began.

The 35-year-old, who boasts 47 Scotland caps and a British and Irish Lions appearance, first broke into the professional game with Newcastle, making 104 appearances before moving to Gloucester. After a season at Bath, he's now set to bring his wealth of experience back to Kingston Park.

"It's a real full-circle moment to be heading back to Kingston Park," Harris told the club's website. "I am looking forward to returning to where it all started, helping to galvanise this new group of exciting players as we build for the future."

Harris becomes the 23rd player signed for the 2026-27 campaign, as incoming head coach Dan McFarland assembles a revamped squad. Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy highlighted the veteran centre's dual value: defensive steel on the pitch and mentorship off it.

"Chris is a top player who has proven himself at the elite end of the international and club game over many years," McIlroy said. "He will add real steel and experience to a key area in our midfield, and almost equally importantly will help develop the wealth of young talent we have within our ranks."
