SARANAC — After Plattsburgh High tied the game in the top of second, Saranac went on an 8-0 run en route to a 10-3 victory Saturday.

Gracie Baxter scattered eight hits that the Hornets were unable to string together to cause much damage.

PHS’ Marlie Walker had the only extra base hit for her team. Teammates Olivia LaMountain and Kiley Kretser had two hits each, as did Saranac’s Irelyn Ryan and Maddie Gagnier.

“Plattsburgh did a good job of putting balls in play but just unable to group hits together to create more,” Spartan coach Sam Campbell said. “We hit several balls well but with no luck. The sun and wind made the ball interesting at times.”

PORT HENRY — Ti’s Lillian Davis struck out 10 and helped her own cause with a home run as the Sentinels defeated the Vikings, 29-5.

Multiple Ti players had extra base hits led by Addison Munson with a double and triple. Avery Lender, Belle Burroughs, Clara Mitchell, Gracie Carr, Gracie Patnode and Gabby Yaw had doubles. Zowie Norton laced a triple.

Davis gave up only one hit while walking seven in five innings pitched. She also led Ti with five hits herself. Lender and Munson had four hits each.

NORWOOD — What was a close game turned upside down with a seven run fourth for Beekmantown.

The Eagles built a big enough lead to hold on to defeat Norwood-Norfolk, 10-7.

Ashley Barnes led the Eagles with a home run and four RBIs on the day.

Ava Dauphinais, Adelaide Burnham and Kaelyn St. Clair had doubles for Beekmantown.

Lilly Perry had 0-1 strikeouts to lead the Eagles from the circle.

“Kali Burdett threw the ball very well and kept us off the bases six out of seven innings,” Beekmantown coach Michele Barnes said. “We broke through in the fourth and were able to score enough runs to gain the lead and keep it. We need to clean up the errors and hit the ball more consistently as we move forward. Keelyn St. Clair had a great game offensively and defensively for us.”

CHAZY — Chazy and NCC kicked off the day with the first game of the Kennedy Columbus Memorial Tournament.

All four games were five innings long to make sure players were well rested between contests.

Games two and three, NCCS vs. Peru and Peru vs. NAC, were not reported.

An errant throw in the first inning played two for the Cougars in what ultimately was a pitcher’s duel between NCCS’ Tess Dumas and Chazy’s Peyton Turek.
