Ishe Samuels-Smith's promising loan spell at Swansea City appears to have come to a premature end. The 19-year-old Chelsea left-back has returned to his parent club for treatment on a muscle injury, likely ruling him out for the Swans' final Championship fixtures.
Samuels-Smith missed Swansea's recent 1-0 victory over Leicester City and their Easter Monday draw with Middlesbrough. Head coach Vitor Matos confirmed the youngster is now under Chelsea's care, stating, "He had a soft-tissue injury and his recovery is in the hands of Chelsea." With just a fortnight left in the season, a return to the Swansea lineup seems unlikely.
The talented defender made eight appearances since arriving on loan last September, offering glimpses of his potential. However, securing consistent minutes proved challenging due to the excellent form and availability of established first-choice Josh Tymon.
As Swansea prepare to host in-form Southampton this weekend, they face further selection challenges. Zeidane Inoussa has suffered a setback in his recovery from a back issue and will be unavailable, while Josh Key (hip) and Ethan Galbraith (calf) also remain sidelined.
