Sam Kerr has officially announced that her next match with Chelsea will be her last for the club. The Australian striker, who is just one goal away from matching Chelsea's all-time scoring record, confirmed on Thursday, May 14, that she will be leaving the London side at the end of the season. Her final appearance in a Chelsea shirt will be Saturday's clash against Manchester United.

Kerr has been a cornerstone of Chelsea's dominance over the past six and a half seasons, leading the Blues to five Women's Super League titles. Her tenure also included a memorable run to the Champions League final in 2021, where Chelsea finished as runners-up. Individually, Kerr has been unstoppable, winning the WSL Golden Boot in both 2021 and 2022, and being named the league's Player of the Year in 2023.

In 157 appearances for Chelsea, Kerr has netted 115 goals—just one behind the club's record holder, Fran Kirby. Reflecting on her time with the club, Kerr shared an emotional message with fans: "I definitely don't want this to be a sad conversation. Remember all the good times we've had together. It's been an absolute honor to represent you guys for the last 6½ years."

As Kerr prepares for her final match, it's a moment for fans to celebrate one of the most impactful players in WSL history—a true icon whose legacy will inspire the next generation of athletes both on and off the pitch.
