Bukayo Saka has written himself into Arsenal folklore, sending the Gunners back to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in two decades. On a tense Tuesday night at the Emirates, the 22-year-old winger delivered the decisive blow against Atletico Madrid, securing a 2-1 aggregate victory that has the red half of London dreaming of European glory.

The moment of magic came when Jan Oblak could only parry Leandro Trossard’s fierce shot back into the six-yard box. In a flash, Saka slipped between two defenders, showing the kind of predatory instinct that separates the good from the great. His close-range tap-in sent the Emirates into a frenzy and ended Atletico’s stubborn resistance.

“You’re taking me away from the celebrations, man!” Saka laughed to Amazon Prime, still buzzing from the occasion. “It is so beautiful. You see what it means to us and what it means to the fans. We’re so happy. Easier said than done. This game was a high-pressure game. It means a lot to both sides. We managed to manage it well, and take ourselves to the final.”

The England international, who has become the heartbeat of Mikel Arteta’s young squad, reflected on the incredible atmosphere that greeted the team bus before kick-off. “I have never seen anything like it,” he admitted.

Arsenal’s journey to the final hasn’t been smooth. A rocky patch between mid-March and mid-April saw them lose four times in six matches, threatening to derail their season. But the Gunners have shown remarkable resilience, and now find themselves on the cusp of an historic double – the Premier League title and their first ever Champions League crown.

“There is no way you are going to come to this position and not have pressure,” Saka added. “How can you not expect people to talk about you and criticise you? That’s why we have got to block it out. It is a beautiful story and I hope it ends well in Budapest.”

Arsenal will face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain in the final on 30th May, with the German and French giants meeting in the second semi-final on Wednesday. For Saka and his teammates, the dream is alive – and the beautiful story is far from over.
