Saints sign WWE Hall of Famer's son as surprise rookie free agent

New Orleans has signed a fascinating name.

The New Orleans Saints have added a truly unique name to their roster—Brock Rechsteiner, the son of a WWE Hall of Famer, has signed as an undrafted rookie free agent.

While Rechsteiner wasn't a household name during the NFL Draft process, his performance at the Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp caught the attention of the Saints. After a subsequent visit to New Orleans' minicamp, he turned that opportunity into his first professional contract, as confirmed Monday by Saints reporter Nick Underhill.

What makes this signing stand out? Rechsteiner's family tree reads like a wrestling royalty lineup. He is the son of Scott Rechsteiner—better known to fans as Scott Steiner or "Big Poppa Pump"—a WWE Hall of Famer. His uncle, Rick Steiner, was his father's legendary tag team partner, and his first cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner, now wrestles as Bron Breakker. Rechsteiner has even hinted that once his football career is over, he plans to step into the wrestling ring himself.

But first, he's focused on proving he belongs in the NFL. During the 2025 college season at Jacksonville State, Rechsteiner caught 36 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns, showcasing reliable hands and solid athleticism. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, he played his entire college career at the same program—a rarity in today's transfer-heavy landscape. Hailing from Woodstock, Georgia, he was an all-region standout in both football and basketball during high school.

Now, the Saints are giving him a shot to chase his football dreams. And if that goes well, his planned encore in professional wrestling will feel like the ultimate victory lap.
