The St. Paul Saints' homecoming at CHS Field on Tuesday night featured a powerful offensive showcase, but it was ultimately overshadowed by a relentless Lehigh Valley attack. Despite a standout performance from Alex Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI single, and his second home run of the season, the Saints fell 11-7 in the series opener.
Jackson's efforts spearheaded a nine-hit, seven-run night for the Saints' lineup, with Alan Roden also adding a homer. However, the Iron Pigs' bats proved unstoppable, racking up 15 hits to secure the win.
Saints starter Andrew Bash battled through three innings, surrendering four runs, but the bullpen couldn't stem the tide. Reliever Trent Baker (2-1) took the loss after allowing three runs in his inning of work. The Saints will look to even the six-game series Wednesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:37 PM CDT.
