New Orleans Saints fans are already buzzing about Brock Rechsteiner—and he hasn't even caught his first pass in training camp yet. What's got everyone excited? It's not just his athletic potential; it's the pro wrestling pedigree that comes with his last name.
Rechsteiner, a wide receiver out of Jacksonville State, is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner—a larger-than-life figure known by unforgettable nicknames like "Big Poppa Pump," "The Genetic Freak," and "The Big Bad Booty Daddy." After a strong showing at rookie minicamp over the weekend, the Saints invited him to training camp, giving fans plenty of reason to dream on his upside.
And there's real talent to work with here. At 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Rechsteiner ran the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds, earning an impressive 8.33 Relative Athletic Score. That points to plenty of untapped potential. Last season, he hauled in 36 receptions for 383 yards and 5 touchdowns—second-best on the team in each category.
But he'll face a steep climb in a crowded wide receiver room. The Saints already have returning starters Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele, plus three rookies drafted this year: Jordyn Tyson, Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown. The training camp roster also includes Mason Tipton, Bub Means, Kevin Austin Jr., Ja'Lynn Polk, Trey Palmer, Ronnie Bell, and Damien Alford. With Rechsteiner's signing, the team now has 13 wideouts and is sitting at the 90-man offseason limit—meaning more tough roster decisions are ahead.
For now, though, Saints fans are enjoying the moment. Social media lit up with reactions, including a classic nod to Steiner's legendary promo style:
"YOU KNOW THEY SAY ALL TEAMS ARE CREATED EQUAL. BUT YOU LOOK AT THE SAINTS AND YOU LOOK AT THE FALCONS AND YOU CAN SEE THAT STATEMENT IS NOT TRUE! SEE NORMALLY IF YOU GO 1 ON 1 WITH ANOTHER TEAM YOU GOT A 50/50 CHANCE OF WINNING! BUT WE ARE GENETIC FREAKS AND NOT NORMAL! SO YOU…"

Whether he makes the final roster or not, Rechsteiner has already won over the Who Dat Nation with his bloodlines and raw athletic ability. Training camp can't come soon enough.
