The St. Paul Saints' three-game winning streak met its end on a windy Saturday at CHS Field, falling 10-6 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in a game that featured plenty of power but not enough pitching.
Despite launching four home runs, the Saints couldn't keep pace with the IronPigs' offense. The highlight for the home crowd was a two-run blast from rehabbing Minnesota Twins star Royce Lewis in the first inning, which immediately answered an early 2-0 deficit and brought home Walter Jenkins.
Tanner Schobel's solo shot in the fourth briefly gave St. Paul a 3-2 lead, but it was short-lived. Lehigh Valley responded with a decisive four-run fifth inning to seize control. The Saints continued to swing for the fences, with solo homers from Emmanuel Rodriguez, Orlando Arcia, and Aaron Sabato down the stretch, but they couldn't mount a full comeback against a relentless IronPigs lineup that added insurance runs late.
Reliever Raul Brito was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs in 2.1 innings of work. The Saints will look to bounce back and split the series Sunday afternoon, handing the ball to starter John Klein for the 2:07 PM finale.
