Imagine racing across the ocean floor—yes, you read that right. The Seymour Sprint, a truly one-of-a-kind running challenge, is making its highly anticipated return this Saturday off the coast of Jersey. This isn't your typical 10k (6.2 miles); it's a dash from Longbeach in Grouville to the historic Seymour Tower and back, a route that's only possible during a low spring tide when the sea temporarily retreats to reveal a path to this normally isolated landmark.

Now in its seventh year, this event isn't just about testing your endurance—it's about community and heart. Organized in support of baby loss charity Philip's Footprints, the Seymour Sprint offers a rare chance to get up close to what organizer Helier du Veulle calls a "really iconic part of our island's history." "You can only get there on a low spring tide," he explains, highlighting the careful timing needed to navigate the gullies safely. "That's the only time it's accessible on foot, so we time it to take advantage of the conditions and make it as safe as possible."

But don't worry if a full sprint isn't your pace. There's the Seymour Stroll for walkers and even a shorter "dry feet" route for those who'd rather avoid the splash. Participants have 90 minutes to make the round trip, and kids as young as eight can join in with a parent. Originally planned as a one-off, the event has become a beloved tradition, with families, strollers, and even dogs taking part. "People come as families," du Veulle says, describing the east coast as "a gorgeous, gorgeous part of the island."

Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a unique adventure, this is your chance to experience a piece of Jersey's heritage in a way few ever do. Lace up those trainers—and don't forget to check the tide schedule!
