The NFL has begun its offseason workouts as teams round out their rosters following a busy free agency period. Their attention now turns to the 2026 NFL Draft.

A number of elite prospects are set to hear their names called early in the draft, with many working to boost their stock and secure the highest pick possible.

However, some prospects have raised major red flags. On Sunday, troubling news surfaced about one of the top prospects, prompting serious questions.

Reports indicate that Miami Hurricanes standout Rueben Bain Jr. received a citation for careless driving following a crash in March 2024. Authorities also revealed that a passenger died after spending three months in a coma.

Bain’s draft stock had already come under scrutiny — not because of his talent, but due to concerns surrounding his workouts and measurements.

This latest development has reportedly triggered multiple NFL investigations, as teams conduct due diligence on the crash and the subsequent death of the passenger.

The timing could not be worse. Despite the concerns, many still viewed Bain as a potential first-round pick.

Now, his stock could take a significant hit. Similar incidents in recent years have caused prospects to slide down draft boards.

Jalen Carter was once considered a surefire top-five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. After news broke of his involvement in a fatal car accident involving a teammate, his stock nearly dropped him out of the top 10.

Teams now face limited time to fully evaluate the situation, with the draft set to begin in less than 11 days.

While some teams may have already known certain details about the incident, it remains unclear how widely the information had circulated.

Will Bain’s draft stock take a significant tumble in the wake of this news?
