Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. has been one of Major League Baseball's most electrifying young players, but even the best need to fine-tune their craft. After a slow start to the season, the dynamic shortstop made a key adjustment to his swing—and the results were immediate.

On Monday night at Kauffman Stadium, Witt launched a 433-foot home run to center field against the Cleveland Guardians, marking his third long ball in the last eight games. The blast helped propel the Royals to a 6-2 victory, as Witt also scored twice and swiped his 11th base of the season.

The adjustment came after a frustrating opening stretch. Despite being one of the fastest players in the game, Witt struggled to make consistent contact coming out of spring training. Through the first 27 games, he had yet to hit a home run—a drought that pushed him to refine his approach at the plate.

Analyzing his swing from the past two seasons, Witt noticed inconsistencies. Early this season, his stance was more upright, with his body positioned slightly more open and closer to home plate. As he began his swing, his hip rotation appeared slower, forcing him to reach for pitches and often resulting in weak contact.

Determined to rediscover his All-Star form, Witt focused on creating more fluidity in his swing. He worked on loading quicker and using extension to drive the ball with authority, rather than popping it up. The result has been a smoother, more powerful stroke that combines his natural speed with renewed pop.

Even during his early struggles, Witt remained a threat on defense and consistently hit for average—his lowest mark was .241 eight games into the season. Now, with his swing clicking, he's once again showcasing the power-speed combination that made him a two-time All-Star. And with the midseason classic on the horizon, Witt appears well on his way to a third consecutive appearance.
