The West Vigo high school softball team mercy-ruled the North Central Thunderbirds 20-1 in five innings Monday night. West Vigo's softball squad put on a dominant display Monday night, mercy-ruling North Central 20-1 in just five innings. The Vikings came out swinging, with Lily Krause leading the charge on three hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. But it was Briley Jones who truly powered the offense, driving in five runs on two hits while crossing the plate twice herself. Grace Rodgers also contributed with two hits and three RBIs. In the circle, Brylie Graves went the distance, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out four and walking two. West Vigo, now 9-5 on the season, was scheduled to face Brown County on Tuesday evening.

Elsewhere in the region, Robinson took down Mt. Carmel 6-1 in Little Illini Conference action. The Maroons got a big boost from Leighton Boyd, who crushed a home run and drove in four runs, while Addy Strauch added two hits and a run scored. Eva Hermann was sharp in the circle, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts while allowing just three hits and one run. Robinson improves to 20-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play, with their next game set for Saturday.

In tennis action, Mahomet swept past Paris 8-1. The Tigers got their lone win from Keenan Svendsen at No. 3 singles, but Mahomet controlled the rest of the match. Paris, now 6-7, looks to bounce back Wednesday against Olney before traveling to Casey on Thursday.

Terre Haute South struggled to find their rhythm against Columbus North, falling 5-0 in Conference Indiana play. The Braves were shut out in singles action, with Valeria Cortez, Lucy Bergman, and Preyanka Nair each posting straight-set wins for Columbus North.

Sullivan made quick work of Brown County, rolling to a 5-0 victory. Ally McKinney, Mercedes Ferree, and Raylee Hobbs all won in straight sets in singles action, while the doubles teams of Izzie Jenkins-Annie Dugan and Risse Dugan-Mauer McCammon also secured wins.

Finally, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College finished third at the River States Conference Championships in West Virginia, posting a three-day total of 1,008. The Pomeroys opened with a 328 before carding rounds of 341 and 339 to close out the tournament at The Resort at Glade Springs.
