Northern Iowa basketball is buzzing with energy as new head coach Kyle Green hits the ground running—and he wouldn't have it any other way.

The former Iowa State assistant coach, now leading the Panthers' program, hasn't had a moment to catch his breath this offseason. But for a coach who thrives on momentum, that's exactly the game plan.

At a recent Panther Caravan stop in Des Moines, Green walked in sporting a UNI quarter-zip and a name tag. But the name tag? Hardly needed. The room was packed with purple-and-gold faithful, eager to greet their new leader with handshakes and high hopes.

"It's been a whirlwind for the last five weeks, people have been great," Green said, smiling. "It's such an easier transition when you're familiar with all the people, the places. You don't have to sell a house, buy a house, do those things. People have been really receptive with open arms. I'm undefeated still, so it's been good."

That familiarity is no small thing. Green's deep roots in the region—and his reputation as a tireless recruiter and developer of talent—have made his arrival feel less like a new chapter and more like a homecoming.
