Rory McIlroy may have had a week to forget at the Truist Championship, but he certainly finished on a high note. The Northern Irishman carded a brilliant final round 67 at Quail Hollow on Sunday, climbing back inside the top 25 after a challenging few days.

For McIlroy, the Truist was meant to be the perfect warm-up for next week's PGA Championship—the second major of the year. But things didn't go entirely to plan in Charlotte. On Saturday, he recorded one of the worst statistical rounds of his career, shooting a disappointing 75. However, true to his champion's spirit, he bounced back superbly with a four-under-par 67 on Sunday.

After the round, McIlroy addressed the media and was asked about a noticeable limp during play. "Yeah, I've got a blister on my pinky toe on my right foot," the six-time major champion explained. "But it's underneath my nail. So I can't really get to it, and it's a little sore, but I'll be all right. Started to feel it like Friday afternoon."

When asked if the blister affected his performance, McIlroy laughed it off: "No, not at all. I wish that was an excuse, but absolutely not." He quickly reassured fans that it's "all systems go" for the PGA Championship, where he'll be chasing his third Wanamaker Trophy after wins in 2012 and 2014.

As for the dramatic turnaround from Saturday to Sunday, McIlroy credited some range time. "I got off to a good start, but I hit the ball better. I started to hit it left yesterday with everything. I spent a good bit of time on the range last night just trying to straighten it out."

With the PGA Championship just days away, McIlroy's grit and determination are on full display—blister and all.
