Manchester United are standing firm on their decision to sell Marcus Rashford this summer, regardless of his impressive resurgence on loan at Barcelona. The Red Devils' hierarchy, led by INEOS, is adamant about recouping funds for the 28-year-old forward rather than reintegrating him into the squad long-term.

Rashford is currently in the final weeks of his temporary spell at Camp Nou, where he has rediscovered his best form. The Englishman played a pivotal role in Barcelona's Spanish Super Cup triumph and, just last weekend, helped secure the La Liga title with a stunning free-kick in the El Clásico victory—a goal that effectively sealed the championship.

Despite his heroics, Barcelona face a dilemma. They have the option to sign Rashford permanently for just £26 million—a bargain in today's market, considering Transfermarkt values him at £35 million. However, the Catalan giants are hesitant because Rashford hasn't been an automatic starter under manager Hansi Flick. He has started only 17 league matches and five of the club's 12 Champions League fixtures before their quarter-final exit.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are open to welcoming Rashford back for pre-season—but only to facilitate a transfer to another club willing to meet their valuation. The message from Old Trafford is clear: they want the money.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the situation on his YouTube channel: "He would like to continue at Barca, he's very happy—as a club, as a city, the teammates, the coach, the connection is very good. Now, it depends on Barca and United. The two clubs are discussing, but still no agreement. Man United insist: 30 million euros—the full clause. Barcelona want to renegotiate; one more season on loan, maybe include an option or obligation, different terms."

As the summer window approaches, this saga is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing transfer stories. For Rashford, a return to his boyhood club seems unlikely, but his sparkling form in Spain has certainly put him in the shop window. Whether Barcelona can find a way to keep him—or another European giant steps in—remains to be seen.
