Boston Red Sox outfielder and designated hitter Roman Anthony isn’t too concerned with his back injury.
Anthony has missed the last two games due to a back injury, but he doesn’t expect an IL stint. Instead, Anthony is hopeful he will return to the lineup on Friday when Boston goes on the road to play the Baltimore Orioles.
“I’m not too worried about (my back),” Anthony said, via MLB.com. “I got a little bit of perspective last year when I hurt my oblique and kind of knew then and there (it was serious). Right now, I’m in a good spot and I'll be ready to play in the next couple of days. I'll be back out there soon.”
Anthony has gotten off to a slow start as he’s hitting just .225 with one home run and five RBIs. He got injured during a swing, which he blames on the cold, but he said he’s doing everything to get back into the lineup.
“We've been taking care of it in the training room and I’m doing everything I can to kind of get back out there. Just a weird thing to happen on a swing,” Anthony added.
If Anthony can return to the Red Sox lineup on Friday, it would be a big boost to the lineup, which has been struggling.
Boston is off to a 9-16 start after being swept by the New York Yankees and will begin a six-game road trip against Baltimore and the Toronto Blue Jays beginning on Friday.
