With just six matchdays left in the Serie A season, the focus at Roma is already shifting towards a significant summer rebuild. A combination of expiring loans, potential transfers, and stalled contract talks means only a core group of about a dozen current players are likely to remain at the Stadio Olimpico next season.
In their search for fresh talent, the Giallorossi have identified a promising target. According to Sky Sport Germany, Roma have opened preliminary talks with Bayern Munich regarding young midfielder Noel Aseko.
Aseko, born in 2005, is currently on loan at Bundesliga 2 side Hannover but remains under contract with the German giants, who recently triggered a buy-back clause. Bayern's plan is to assess the 19-year-old during their pre-season training camp before making a final decision on his future. Should he not fit into their long-term plans, a permanent transfer would be considered.
Roma will face competition for the midfielder's signature, with Premier League sides Aston Villa and Brighton, as well as Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, also reportedly interested. Aseko's market value is estimated around €12 million, but Roma may have a slight edge in negotiations thanks to a positive existing relationship with Bayern, strengthened by the deal for Bryan Zaragoza this past January.
