West Bromwich Albion have welcomed a familiar face back to The Hawthorns, announcing former striker Jason Roberts as a new non-executive director. The appointment marks a significant homecoming for a player who was a fan favorite during his time on the pitch.

Roberts, now 48, made his name with the Baggies between 2000 and 2004, becoming a key figure in their early-2000s campaigns. He netted 27 times in 100 appearances, cementing his place in club lore before a move to Wigan Athletic. His career also included Premier League stints with Portsmouth, Blackburn Rovers, and Reading, giving him a wealth of on-field experience at the highest level.

In his new boardroom role, Roberts will provide strategic insight and independent oversight, drawing from his deep understanding of the game. He joins chairman Shilen Patel and the rest of the board at a pivotal time for the Championship club, tasked with helping shape its long-term vision and direction.

"I am delighted to be joining the board of the club that is such a huge part of my family's history," Roberts said. "This is an important moment for the football club, and I am honoured to contribute to shaping its strategic direction for the future."

Roberts will balance this new responsibility with his current position as Head of Football Development at Concacaf, a role he has held since 2017. His unique blend of playing pedigree and administrative expertise promises to be a valuable asset as West Bromwich Albion builds for the seasons ahead.
