Barcelona's star striker Robert Lewandowski appears poised to announce his departure from the club as his contract expires at the end of the season. After four years with the Blaugrana, the 37-year-old forward has received a verbal offer for a one-year extension, but sources suggest he is leaning toward an exit.

The proposed extension came with strings attached: a significant wage cut and a shift to a backup role behind the starting number nine—a reality that has already become apparent in recent weeks. Lewandowski has remained non-committal on his future, leaving fans and club officials in suspense.

Earlier this week, reports linked Lewandowski with Portuguese side Porto, but club president Andre Vilas Boas quickly dismissed the possibility, calling such a deal "financially impossible" in comments quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. That effectively rules out a move across the Iberian Peninsula.

However, transfer journalist Matteo Moretto has confirmed that Lewandowski is close to leaving, a claim backed by Polish reporter Tomas Wlodarczcyk, who told Sport that the striker is "very close" to making his exit announcement. With Barcelona's final home game of the season scheduled for this Sunday against Real Betis, that match could serve as his last chance to bid farewell to the Camp Nou faithful—making a formal announcement likely in the coming days.

According to reports in Poland, if Lewandowski accepts an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, the deal could be worth up to €30 million per season over three years. That remains his primary option, alongside interest from MLS club Chicago Fire, which reportedly offered around half that amount. Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus have also expressed interest, but those options are currently trailing behind.

As his time in Barcelona draws to a close, Lewandowski leaves behind a successful legacy. He arrived as the marquee signing of Joan Laporta's second presidential term and departs with three La Liga titles to his name—a fitting end to a memorable chapter in Catalan football.
