RJ Day has received another college football offer from a program with a former Ohio State offensive coordinator.
On April 19, the DeSales junior quarterback announced on his X account that he received an offer from Northwestern after a conversation with offensive coordinator and former Ohio State assistant Chip Kelly, as well as quarterbacks coach Jerry Neuheisel.

Northwestern is the second Big Ten school to make an offer to Day, a three-star recruit, according to his 247Sports profile.
Day, the son of Ohio State coach Ryan Day, set DeSales single-season records with 2,710 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns last fall. He set a single-game mark with 482 yards in a Division II, Region 7 first-round playoff win over Ashland on Nov. 7.
Entering his senior season, Day has thrown for 5,710 yards and 54 scores, both DeSales records.
Kelly was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ohio State during the 2024 national championship season. He paid a buyout worth $350,000 to the school for terminating his contract early to coach in the NFL, becoming the offensive coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025 under Pete Carroll.
The Raiders fired Kelly on Nov. 23. He was hired as Northwestern's offensive coordinator the next month.
Ryan Day was once a quarterback for Kelly at New Hampshire and had been on Kelly’s NFL coaching staffs in 2015 and 2016 with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.
RJ Day also received an offer from South Florida head coach Brian Hartline, another former Ohio State offensive coordinator, on April 8.
