The Peoria Rivermen are just one win away from capturing their third SPHL President's Cup championship in five years, but don't expect them to take anything for granted. Leading the best-of-five series 2-0 against the defending champion Evansville Thunderbolts, the Rivermen know the toughest battle still lies ahead.

"We have six guys who have won this before. It's going to be on us to show the way," said forward Mike Gelatt, emphasizing the veteran leadership that has guided Peoria through a dominant postseason run. After sweeping the first two games at home, the Rivermen now face the daunting task of closing out the series on the road—a place where they struggled mightily during the regular season, going just 1-5-1 in Evansville.

"This is going to be the hardest game," Gelatt added. "We have done it before, but they are a good team, so we have to show them respect as well."

Peoria has already proven they can win away from home in these playoffs, closing out their SPHL semifinal series against Knoxville with two straight victories in Tennessee. That road warrior mentality will be crucial as they head into hostile territory against a team that thrives on home ice.

"They are the defending champs, they play great at home," said forward Garrett Devine. "So, we know it's going to take our best game to win the third one. It's going to be a battle. I think we are all mentally prepared to keep going to war."

With the championship on the line, the Rivermen are bracing for the ultimate test of their resilience. The next win may be the hardest, but this team has the experience and determination to finish the job.
