Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the 2023 Daytona 500 champion, is staying put. The veteran driver has signed a multi-year contract extension with Hyak Motorsports, locking him into the No. 47 Chevrolet for the foreseeable future. It's a move that solidifies the team's foundation as they continue to build momentum in the NASCAR Cup Series.
"Ricky has been a huge part of what we're building at Hyak Motorsports, and we're proud to continue this partnership for years to come," said team owner Gordon Smith. "He brings experience, leadership, and a competitive mindset every weekend. We believe there's still a lot ahead for this team with Ricky in the No. 47."
Stenhouse, a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, has racked up nearly 500 Cup Series starts and four victories—all of which have come on the high-speed, pack-racing chaos of superspeedways. His career began with RFK Racing before he took the wheel of the No. 47 in 2020, when the team was known as JTG Daugherty Racing. It rebranded to Hyak Motorsports ahead of the 2025 season.
"I'm thrilled to finally get this contract extension done," Stenhouse said. "It's something we've been working on for a while, and I'm really thankful to everyone at Hyak Motorsports, especially Gordon. His vision for this race team and the passion he brings to it every single day is special. A lot of people may not know Gordon that well yet, but he truly cares about motorsports, NASCAR, and this No. 47 team. Along with Gordon, Brad, Mark, Ernie, and everyone at Hyak Motorsports, I feel like we're continuing to improve week after week. It's never easy being a single-car team, but the experience we're gaining and the notebook we're building is helping us get better. More than anything, this team feels like one big family. On and off the racetrack, we're building something that has me really excited about the future."
Hyak Motorsports is one of the few remaining full-time one-car operations in NASCAR, joining the ranks of Haas Factory Team, Rick Ware Racing, and Wood Brothers Racing (though the latter has a close technical alliance with Team Penske). Stenhouse currently sits 27th in the championship standings, with his best result of the season coming in the Daytona 500 opener, where he finished second.
